I’m Jessica Lit, Esq. A.K.A. “The Lit Esquire™”, but you can call me Jess. (And before you ask, yes Lit is actually my last name.) I am a New York based actor-turned-attorney and I created The Lit Esquire PLLC because I am on a mission to empower artists to take control of their careers.
The method is simple: Survive, Secure, Monetize.
Together, we develop inspired business + legal strategy so that artists like you can survive the day-to-day and plan for the future. We help secure and enforce intellectual property to protect your brand AND your work. And finally, you’ve made the art, now let’s figure out how to monetize it and bring in that $$$.

So, I turned away from the one thing I always wanted to do and spent the next 5 years searching for something else.
For so long, I was an actor. But I was also a:
Director of Development for a start-up theatre company, restaurant host, administrative assistant, real estate agent, AirBnB manager, SoulCycle front desk person, personal assistant…and even magic show producer (seriously).
So when I say I understand the life of a working artist – I mean it.
I found myself landing in law school, which led me to my true calling - helping other artists never have to make the same decision I did.

FUN FACTS
- I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and I will physically fight someone in the name of the Carolina Panthers and/or Bojangles and recently relocated back to my hometown after 16 years!
- My parents relocated to Ecuador in 2012, so I have the privilege of calling a little town called Salinas my second home.
- I am a French history buff that borders on obsessive (literally dressed as Napoleon for Halloween one year).
- Speaking of obsessions – I have an unhealthy one with reality television and could talk theories about whether Erika knew about Tom for days. I also may or may not have a finsta Bravo fan account that I run with my BFF… but who gon’ check me, boo?
- I have an amazing partner in life who was actually my first “client” when I encouraged him to leave a legal career behind to pursue his passion for bartending. He and I share two beautiful cats together – Bash and Medea
